Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Pisa. Arrival and visit to the Cathedral, with its marble tower and baptistery. The Tower is inclined and 56 meters high. Lunch and departure to the city of Florence known for the best Renaissance sculptures. Visit to the Duomo of the Cathedral with the terracotta dome. Late afternoon arrival at the hotel in Florence for dinner and accommodation.
Breakfast at the hotel and departure to visit Assisi, located in the north of Rome. A walled city with an unmistakable medieval outline. Time to visit this magnificent urban complex built in pink stone. Its medieval streets, surprisingly well preserved, show us balconies beautifully decorated with flowers. Lunch and visit to the Basilica of Saint Francis, where you can admire one of the most beautiful sets of frescoes in the world. In the late afternoon, arrival at the hotel in Assis for dinner and accommodation.
After breakfast, departure towards Lanciano to visit the Monastery of S. Legoziano. In the late afternoon, arrival at the hotel in S. Giovani Rotondo for dinner and accommodation.
After breakfast, visit the Padre Pio Sanctuary in S. Giovanni Rotondo. Lunch and departure to Rome. Arrival in Rome and visit to the “Eternal City”. We will start by contemplating the Trevi Fountain (made famous in Fellini’s film “Dolce Vita”), the Chigi Palace, Piazza Colonna (with the column of Emperor Marcus Aurelius), the Parliament, the Pantheon (built by Emperor Hadrian in the II AD) and Piazza Navonna. After a panoramic tour of Mount Caelian, with a wonderful view of the Colosseum and the Gladiator School; by the Palatine Hill, with the archaeological remains of the emperors’ palaces; Monte Aventine, the Quirinal Palace (the largest palace in Italy, official residence of the President of the Republic) and the Esquiline, on which you can admire the largest of the basilicas dedicated to Saint Mary Major. In the late afternoon, arrival at your hotel in Rome for dinner and accommodation.
After breakfast, departure towards Vatican City for the Papal Audience. Lunch. Visit to the Vatican Museum, recognized as a unique heritage of humanity. The visit includes, among others, the beautiful Candelabra Gallery, the Tapestry Gallery, the Map Gallery and the Gallery of the Immaculate Conception. Then visit the infamous School of Athens (Raphael), most of which were painted by the master between 1508 and 1520. We will end the visit in the Sistine Chapel, where we can contemplate Genesis and the Last Judgment, Michelangelo’s frescoes which, after being completely restored, are back in all their splendor. Afterwards, visit St. Peter’s Basilica, the largest basilica in the world with more than 15,000 square meters, like St. Peter’s Square. In the late afternoon, departure to Rome International Airport for the return flight.
