Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to the pier to board the ferry (1 hour) from Mindelo (São Vicente Island) to Porto Novo (Santo Antão Island), enjoying the cultural exchange between the people of these two neighboring islands, linked by a simple glance. In Santo Antão, we will explore the largest volcanic crater in Cape Verde, the Cova de Paúl, an extinct volcano surrounded by spectacular landscapes with trails and roads in a stunning green environment. The diversity of vegetation, the daily life of its inhabitants, the black volcanic lava, the white sand and dunes, the pastel tones of the houses, and the turquoise blue of the sea contrasting with volcanoes, mountains, and agricultural fields make this island a gem of Cape Verde—a world apart that only those who visit can describe. We continue along the Estrada da Corda, one of the island’s most breathtaking routes, stopping at the Delgadinho mountain range viewpoint, offering impressive views of cliffs and valleys. We then head to the Tourist Village of Ponta do Sol, where we will visit the Jewish cemetery, the famous sundial at the port, and the town hall. From there, we proceed to Ribeira Grande, where we will have lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we will explore the lush Paúl Valley, visiting a traditional distillery and learning about the production process of sugarcane-based products using the traditional alembic, locally known as a “trapiche.” There will be an opportunity to taste and purchase various products such as grogue, sugarcane juice, molasses, and pure sugarcane syrup. After discovering one of Cape Verde’s most beautiful islands, we will return to Porto Novo to board the ferry back to Mindelo, São Vicente Island. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.
